3-D Imaging
With SureSmile, the creation, structuring, placement and analysis of your braces are worked out completely before the doctor situates any of your appliances. Computer technology allows a 3-D image of your mouth, teeth and jawbone to be captured digitally, allowing both you and the doctor to see the final results even before you start!
Improved Results and Comfort
Because the details are worked out beforehand, this leads to a shorter treatment time because the alignment is placed correctly from the beginning and then adjusted, not by hand, but by robotic “hands” that restructure your archwires with a greater degree of accuracy than previously possible. In addition, because the archwires are more precisely fitted to your teeth, your braces are more comfortable.
A shorter treatment time means fewer office visits, which gives you more freedom.
Step One: SureSmile creates a 3-D computer model of your teeth by using advanced imaging technology to scan your teeth. The 3-D images are captured with the OraScanner or Cone Beam Computed Tomagraphy (CBCT). This scan procedure is the beginning of your SureSmile treatment.
Step Two: With the 3-D model, Dr. Naidu can see and measure your teeth and analyze how they fit together from any angle. Suresmile Treatment Planning software provides virtual simulations that allow Dr. Naidu to determine your optimal treatment with the final position of your teeth, yielding the most effective plan for your unique treatment needs. The target position of each tooth is planned in advance so you’ll know what outcome to expect.
Step Three: Once your treatment plan is determined, SureSmile directs a robot to bend a shape-memory alloy archwire according to your doctor’s prescription by heating Copper Ni-Ti® metal to over 1000ºF during the robotic customization process. These “smart” wires permanently retain your individual prescription and are activated by your own body heat. This wire is your wire designed to deliver gentle forces to move your teeth consistently and directly to the desired finishing position, thereby reducing your time in braces up to 40 percent (6 to 9 months less time)!
